Neonatal Resuscitation Simulation Camp - Hands-on training, teamwork, and simulation-based education
The final stop of this educational visit through China brought us back to Shanghai for an intensive Neonatal Resuscitation Simulation Camp focused on delivery room management, teamwork, and neonatal emergencies.
Simulation-based education has become an essential component of neonatal resuscitation training worldwide. By recreating realistic delivery room scenarios in a safe environment, teams can practice technical skills, communication, leadership, and crisis resource management.
𩺠A focus on simulation and team performance
The simulation camp included:
Delivery room resuscitation scenarios
Respiratory support for premature infants
Team communication exercises
Crisis resource management
Debriefing and reflective learning sessions
Participants worked through high-acuity neonatal emergencies using simulation to improve:
Clinical decision-making
Team dynamics
Preparedness for rare but critical events
The level of engagement and enthusiasm from participants and faculty was outstanding throughout the program.
š¶ Bridging education and clinical care
One of the key goals of simulation-based neonatal education is translating learning directly into patient care.
The discussions throughout the camp focused on:
Optimizing ventilation strategies
Improving delivery room stabilization
Recognizing evolving clinical conditions early
Building confidence and consistency in neonatal resuscitation teams
Simulation provides a unique opportunity to improve both individual and system-level performance while strengthening collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
š Continuing international collaboration
Returning to Shanghai after visits to Tongji University, Beijing, and Guangzhou highlighted the growing collaboration and exchange in neonatal medicine between international centres.
These educational partnerships continue to strengthen:
Clinical teaching
Research collaboration
Simulation-based training
Global neonatal networks
š¤ Looking ahead
The Neonatal Resuscitation Simulation Camp concluded an inspiring and productive educational journey through China.
Thank you to all organizers, faculty, trainees, and clinical teams for the warm hospitality, engaging discussions, and commitment to improving neonatal care.
We look forward to continuing these collaborations and future educational initiatives together.
