Some weeks stand out—and this was definitely one of them for the CSAR / Research4Babies team.

We were delighted to welcome the team at Université de Sherbrooke as they officially began recruitment for the HiLo Trial. Expanding our network of engaged and committed sites is key to the success of this important study.
At the same time, we reached an incredible milestone:1,150 out of 1,200 patients recruited 🎉
This brings us very close to completing one of the largest neonatal trials in Canada. A huge thank you to all participating sites, research teams, and families who have made this possible.
It was also a fantastic week for our trainees. Many of our students presented their work at the University of Alberta Pediatric Research Day, highlighting the breadth and impact of research within CSAR.
From neonatal resuscitation and respiratory support to digital health and clinical trials, their work reflects the strength of our training environment and the next generation of clinician-scientists.

And the momentum continues—part of the team is now heading to Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting 2026 in Boston.
With multiple presentations showcasing once again trainee excellence, posters, and sessions, PAS will be another opportunity to share our work, build collaborations, and contribute to advancing neonatal care on an international stage.
🙌 Looking back—and ahead
From major trial milestones to trainee achievements and international engagement, this week captures what CSAR / Research4Babies is all about:
Collaboration
Innovation
Training the next generation
Improving outcomes for newborns
What a week—and more to come. Stay tuned.
