Safety Is at the Heart of Everything We Do

We are delighted to share that the Research4Babies Laboratory received a Safety Shout-Out from the University of Alberta in recognition of our team’s strong commitment to laboratory safety.

For us, safety is much more than a set of policies or a checklist—it is part of our laboratory culture. We live and breathe safety in everything we do, from planning experiments and conducting animal research to handling equipment, collecting data, and training new team members.

Our research involves complex procedures that require careful preparation, clear communication, and close teamwork. Every member of the Research4Babies team shares responsibility for creating an environment where potential risks are identified early, concerns can be raised openly, and everyone feels empowered to speak up. Safety is discussed regularly during our laboratory meetings, reinforced through ongoing training, and incorporated into every research protocol and procedure.

This recognition belongs to our entire team. It reflects the care, attention, and professionalism that our staff, students, trainees, and investigators bring to the laboratory every day. Their commitment ensures that our research is conducted not only rigorously and responsibly, but also in an environment that protects everyone involved.
