Lung-protective ventilatory strategies in intubated preterm neonates with RDS.
Latest publication by CSAR: This article provides a narrative review of lung-protective ventilatory strategies (LPVS) in intubated preterm infants with RDS. A description of strategies is followed by results on short-and long-term respiratory and neurodevelopmental outcomes. Strategies will include patient-triggered or synchronized ventilation, volume targeted ventilation, the technique of intubation, surfactant administration and rapid extubation to NCPAP (INSURE), the open

A Novel Prototype Neonatal Resuscitator that Controls Tidal Volume and Ventilation Rate. A Comparati
Latest by CSAR: a device which has the potential to reduce lung injury while providing adequate mask ventilation in the delivery room. The objective of this randomized controlled manikin trial was to examine tidal volume (VT) delivery and ventilation rate during mask positive pressure ventilation (PPV) with five different devices, including a volume-controlled prototype Next StepTM device for neonatal resuscitation. We hypothesized that VT and rate would be closest to target

Evidence on Adrenaline Use in Resuscitation and Its Relevance to Newborn Infants: A Non-Systematic R
CSAR reviewed the currently available evidence about Epinephrine use during neonatal resuscitation: the review is available for free at: http://www.karger.com/Article/FullText/447960 Abstract: Aim: Guidelines for newborn resuscitation state that if the heart rate does not increase despite adequate ventilation and chest compressions, adrenaline administration should be considered. However, controversy exists around the safety and effectiveness of adrenaline in newborn resusci
